Dominant Bangladesh Thrash Pakistan in Series Opener in Dhaka

Bangladesh began their T20I series against Pakistan in emphatic fashion, cruising to a seven-wicket victory in the first match at the Shere Bangla National Stadium. A combined effort from the bowlers, led by Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman, helped skittle Pakistan for just 110, before Parvez Hossain Emon powered the hosts home with an unbeaten 56.

Pakistan were bowled out in a T20I for the first time, falling apart under sustained pressure from Bangladesh's disciplined bowling and sharp fielding. Taskin took 3 for 22, while Mustafizur delivered a record-breaking spell of 2 for 6 – the most economical four-over effort by a Bangladeshi in T20Is.

Bangladesh chased the target with ease, reaching 112 for 3 in just 15.3 overs. Parvez’s 39-ball 56, studded with five sixes and three fours, ensured a smooth finish despite a shaky start.

Bowling Brilliance Sets Up Victory

The visitors were on the back foot from the outset after being put in to bat. Despite a dropped catch off Fakhar Zaman early on, Taskin removed Saim Ayub in the second over. Mohammad Haris, who had impressed in the teams’ previous meeting, threw his wicket away with a poor shot, caught at deep midwicket.

Fakhar Zaman was the lone bright spot in Pakistan’s innings, scoring 44 off 34 balls, but his effort was undone by two run-outs — first refusing a single that cost Mohammad Nawaz his wicket, then being run-out himself after a mix-up with Khushdil Shah.

Salman Agha fell to a mistimed scoop, and the wickets kept tumbling. Mustafizur was clinical in the middle overs, dismissing Khushdil and containing the scoring rate with pinpoint accuracy. Pakistan lost their final three wickets in as many balls in the last over — two to Taskin and one more run-out — to be bowled out for 110.

Parvez Powers Bangladesh's Chase

Bangladesh’s reply got off to a rocky start, with debutant Salman Mirza striking twice in his first two overs to remove Tanzid Hasan and Litton Das. However, Parvez Hossain and Towhid Hridoy quickly turned the tide.

Saim Ayub’s surprise introduction with the ball was taken apart, with both batters smashing sixes. Parvez was in sublime form, lofting clean hits over the ropes and displaying a calm temperament as wickets fell around him.

Hridoy made 36 before falling to Abbas Afridi, but the damage had already been done. Pakistan’s sloppy fielding made things worse — Hridoy was dropped twice, and Parvez was given a life on 55 before sealing the game alongside Jaker Ali.

Jaker struck the winning boundary with a stylish pull shot as Bangladesh wrapped up the chase with 27 balls to spare.

Score Summary:
