Nepal will host the Women's T20 World Cup 2026 Qualifier, scheduled to take place from January 12 to February 2, 2026. The matches will be played at the Lower and Upper Mulpani Cricket Stadiums in Kathmandu. The full schedule for the tournament is expected to be announced in the coming months.
A total of ten teams will compete for the four remaining spots in the T20 World Cup proper, which is set to be held in England and Wales in June-July 2026. This edition of the World Cup will feature 12 teams for the first time, up from ten in 2024.
So far, five teams have secured their places in the Qualifier. Bangladesh and Ireland qualified automatically after featuring in the 2024 Women's T20 World Cup. Thailand and hosts Nepal advanced through the Asia regional qualifiers, while the USA booked their spot through the Americas pathway.
The remaining five teams will be decided through regional qualifiers: two from Africa, two from Europe, and one from the East Asia-Pacific region.
The Qualifier tournament will follow a two-stage format. The ten teams will be divided into two groups of five. The top three teams from each group will move on to the Super Six stage, followed by a final. The top four teams overall will progress to the main event in England and Wales.
New Zealand, the defending champions, won the 2024 edition of the tournament by defeating South Africa in the final held in Dubai on October 20, 2024.
