Pakistan to Host South Africa for Three ODIs Ahead of 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup

In preparation for the 2025 ICC Women’s ODI World Cup, Pakistan will host South Africa for a three-match ODI series at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore from September 16 to 22. These fixtures will serve as crucial match practice ahead of the global event, which begins on September 30 and will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka.

Following the home series, Pakistan will travel to Sri Lanka where they will play all their group stage matches—and potential knockout fixtures—of the World Cup.

Before the ODIs, Pakistan’s only other international assignment for the remainder of 2025 is a three-match T20I series against Ireland in Dublin from August 6 to 10.

Looking ahead to next year, Pakistan’s women's team has a packed schedule leading up to the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England. The build-up includes an away tour to South Africa in February-March 2026 for three ODIs and three T20Is, followed by a home series against Zimbabwe in April-May, also comprising three ODIs and three T20Is. The Zimbabwe series was originally planned to include five T20Is but has since been trimmed.

In May-June 2026, Pakistan will also participate in a T20I tri-series in Ireland, featuring West Indies as the third team, ahead of the T20 World Cup which runs from June 12 to July 5 in England.

Domestic & Development Pathways

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) also announced a comprehensive domestic and developmental structure for the 2025-26 season. This includes the National One-Day Tournament in Karachi from November 6–24 and the National T20 Tournament from March 24 to April 17, 2026. International players are expected to participate in both events.

An Inter-University Tournament is also scheduled for October 2025, although details regarding venues and fixtures are yet to be finalized.

On the youth front, the Under-19 Women's T20 Tournament will take place in Karachi from September 15 to October 6, 2025. Top performers will be invited to a three-week skills development camp, followed by a conditioning camp ahead of a five-match T20 series in Bangladesh in December.

Additionally, the PCB is exploring the possibility of launching a departmental tournament for women's cricket. PCB Head of Women’s Cricket Rafia Haider stated that the initiative would offer “additional playing opportunities” and further strengthen the domestic game.

With an expanded international and domestic schedule, the PCB’s roadmap aims to provide robust competitive exposure ahead of two back-to-back global events in 2025 and 2026.
