Australia wrapped up a dominant T20I series with a 5-0 whitewash against West Indies, clinching the final match by three wickets in St Kitts. Despite a fighting half-century from Shimron Hetmyer—his first in T20Is since August 2023—Australia's deep batting line-up ensured another successful chase.
Chasing 171, Australia stumbled early at 25 for 3, with Jason Holder and Alzarri Joseph striking in the powerplay. But big-hitting cameos from Tim David (30 off 12) and Mitchell Owen (37) kept the visitors ahead of the required rate. Aaron Hardie then guided them home after Akeal Hosein (3 for 17) briefly threatened to swing the game back in West Indies’ favour.
Earlier, Australia’s bowlers set the tone after captain Mitchell Marsh opted to bowl first for the fifth time this series. Ben Dwarshuis (3 for 41) made early inroads, while Adam Zampa claimed a wicket in his 100th T20I. Hetmyer led the West Indies effort with a 30-ball 52, sharing a 47-run partnership with Jason Holder, but fell immediately after reaching his milestone.
Nathan Ellis once again impressed in the death overs, including a sharp run-out to end the innings. Glenn Maxwell had a mixed outing—dropping a catch, scoring a duck—but claimed the key wicket of Sherfane Rutherford (35 off 16), halting West Indies’ momentum.
Australia’s aggressive batting in the powerplay continued, with David and Owen launching seven sixes between them. Despite losing wickets, the chase remained in control due to their explosive start and depth in the batting order.
Cameron Green, who contributed consistently throughout the series, was named Player of the Series.
