Du Plessis, Milne Shine as Texas Super Kings Dominate Orcas to Go Top of the Table

A commanding all-round performance by the Texas Super Kings saw them crush the Seattle Orcas by 51 runs in their final league game of the Major League Cricket season, taking them to the top of the points table with 14 points.

Captain Faf du Plessis led from the front with a blistering 91 off just 52 balls before retiring out in the penultimate over. His knock, laced with six fours and four sixes, formed the backbone of the Super Kings' innings. He shared a match-defining 131-run partnership off 71 balls with Shubham Ranjane, who contributed an explosive 65 from 38 deliveries. The duo's heroics powered Texas to an imposing 188 for 4.

Seattle’s bowlers were left clueless against the onslaught, only managing to claim a few consolation wickets late in the innings once the damage had already been inflicted.

In reply, the Orcas never looked in control. New Zealand pacer Adam Milne wreaked havoc with a fiery spell, claiming a five-wicket haul (5 for 20), including three wickets in a single over. His efforts dismantled the Orcas' top and middle order, as they were bowled out for 137 in 18.4 overs.

Kyle Mayers provided a glimmer of hope with a quick 35, but key batters like David Warner and Shayan Jahangir failed to get going. Shimron Hetmyer tried to counter-attack with a brisk 26, but the mounting required run rate and consistent fall of wickets left the chase in disarray. By the time Sikandar Raza arrived at the crease, the task had become insurmountable, with 98 needed off the last 47 balls.

Only three Orcas batters crossed the 20-run mark, as Milne’s clinical spell ensured a comfortable win for the Super Kings.

With this result, Texas finished their league campaign with seven wins from ten matches and now await the outcomes of upcoming matches to confirm their place in the top two. The Seattle Orcas, on the other hand, slumped to their seventh loss of the season and remain in fourth place with six points.
