Ellyse Perry Signs with Hampshire for Vitality Blast and One-Day Cup

Hampshire has pulled off a major coup with the signing of legendary Australian allrounder Ellyse Perry for the upcoming Vitality Blast and Metro Bank One-Day Cup. The 34-year-old will feature in six Vitality Blast matches and two One-Day Cup fixtures in July, with the possibility of extending her stay should the club reach Finals Day.

Perry is set to make her debut on July 4 against The Blaze at Chesterfield, followed by her first home appearance at the Utilita Bowl on July 6 against Somerset.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of the women’s game, Perry's signing signals Hampshire's serious intent ahead of the newly introduced Tier One domestic structure in England. Her glittering résumé includes six T20 World Cups, two ODI World Cups, Commonwealth Games gold, and five Ashes series victories. She also remains the leading run-scorer and wicket-taker in Women’s Ashes history.

"I'm really looking forward to joining the Hampshire team this summer," Perry said in a statement released by the club. "The club has been a leader within the women’s game for the last ten years and I’m excited to have the opportunity to join the team at such an exciting time for domestic cricket in England."

Perry’s recent form underlines her value. She played a key role for Royal Challengers Bangalore during their victorious 2024 WPL campaign and was the second-highest run-scorer in the 2025 edition, tallying 372 runs at an average of 93. Following her stint with Hampshire, Perry will return to the Birmingham Phoenix for The Hundred, a side she captained last season.

Paul Prichard, who was appointed interim head coach just a day before Perry’s signing was announced, welcomed the addition.

“Ellyse is one of the world’s best cricketers and we are looking forward to welcoming her to the team this summer,” Prichard said. “Her record across all formats speaks for itself, and she will add tremendous value both on and off the pitch. Our young players will learn so much from Ellyse, and I know our fans will be incredibly excited to see her in a Hawks shirt.”

Perry joins a growing list of international stars in England's domestic competition, including Grace Harris (Surrey), Alana King (Lancashire), and Suzie Bates (Durham).

Her arrival is expected to significantly boost Hampshire’s profile and performance in what promises to be a transformative season for women's domestic cricket in England.
