Keith Dudgeon Set for Full-Time Kent Return in 2026

South African fast bowler Keith Dudgeon is set to rejoin Kent as one of their overseas players for the 2026 season. The 29-year-old has committed to a full-season stint and will be available across all formats – including the County Championship, the T20 Blast, and the One-Day Cup.

Dudgeon originally signed with Kent on a short-term deal at the start of the 2025 season. Although his involvement was brief, he made an immediate impact, taking career-best figures of 7 for 36 against Northamptonshire in his County Championship debut. However, his promising start was cut short by a knee injury that ruled him out for the rest of the season.

The right-arm seamer, who is currently undergoing rehabilitation following successful surgery, is expected to return to action for his domestic side, Boland, before the end of the year.

"It's a huge case of unfinished business for me, and I'm sure it seems that way for the Kent fans," Dudgeon said. "I'm so pleased to be a Kent player again for the whole of next season. Everyone at the club made me feel so welcome during my short time in Canterbury. I've been watching the lads closely from South Africa and working hard to get back to full fitness."

Dudgeon added that he’s particularly looking forward to making his home debut at Canterbury and expressed gratitude to Kent’s management team: "I'd like to thank Adam [Hollioake], Simon [Cook], and the board at Kent for putting their faith in me coming back for 2026."

Kent’s director of cricket, Simon Cook, welcomed the return: "Keith made a lasting impression on us during his short but sweet time earlier in the season. He’s progressing well in his rehab and is on track to return to competitive cricket before Christmas. We’re excited to have him back for a full season."

Kent, currently struggling in Division Two of the County Championship with two wins, three draws, and four losses, are hoping that Dudgeon’s return will bolster their bowling attack in 2026. Their T20 Blast campaign remains alive, though they sit just outside the qualification spots with four matches remaining.

With Dudgeon’s return on the horizon, Kent will be hoping to turn their fortunes around next season with a renewed pace threat leading the attack.
