Pakistan's Home Series Against Ireland Postponed to 2027 Due to Scheduling Conflicts

Pakistan’s scheduled home series against Ireland, comprising three T20Is and three ODIs, has been officially postponed to 2027. Originally slated for September-October 2025, the series has been shelved due to Pakistan's increasingly congested international calendar.

The series, which would have marked Ireland men’s first-ever tour of Pakistan, was initially announced in May 2024 and later confirmed in the PCB's 2025 season schedule. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Cricket Ireland have now mutually agreed to defer the tour to the next home season, with both boards exploring new dates in 2027.

The decision comes amid a packed schedule for Pakistan. The national team is currently engaged in a white-ball series against West Indies and will participate in a T20I tri-series with UAE and Afghanistan later this month. More significantly, the Asia Cup is scheduled from September 9 to 28, followed by a two-Test series against South Africa in early October, further narrowing the available window for the Ireland series.

“We wanted to balance content and planning better across the two seasons,” a PCB official told ESPNcricinfo. “It made more sense for us both to spread the fixtures further out as we already have substantial content leading into Asia Cup and then the World Cup.”

Pakistan’s current focus is heavily geared toward T20 cricket ahead of the T20 World Cup early next year. The PCB had already prioritized T20Is in other upcoming series, initially increasing the number of T20Is against Bangladesh and exploring a T20-only format for the ongoing West Indies series.

While Ireland did not have any conflicting fixtures during the proposed tour window, the postponement is understood to be a mutual decision, with both boards prioritizing long-term planning and competitive balance.
