Rohit Sharma's Availability for MI vs RCB to Be Decided After Net Session

Mumbai Indians (MI) opener Rohit Sharma’s availability for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will be determined after he undergoes a net session on Sunday. Rohit missed MI's last game against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) due to a knee injury sustained in the lead-up to the match.

MI head coach Mahela Jayawardene provided an update ahead of the game at Wankhede Stadium, stating, “Ro [Rohit] looks good, he's going to bat today as well. Rohit had an unfortunate impact on his leg while batting, so he felt uncomfortable. We were traveling yesterday. He’ll have a hit today and then we will do an assessment on that.”

Rohit had a modest start to the season with scores of 13, 8, and 0 in MI's first three matches before missing the away fixture in Lucknow. In his last appearance against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), he made a brief but impactful 13 runs as an Impact Player, helping MI chase down 117 in a commanding eight-wicket victory.

Jayawardene backed Rohit despite his inconsistent start, saying, “He had a couple of hits, he’s batting well in the nets. If you’re telling me to look at someone’s performance every two innings, it’s a bit unfair. My memory of his last innings was the Champions Trophy-winning knock. We’ve always backed our core group to deliver, and we will continue to do that.”

MI has won just one game so far, against KKR, and currently sits eighth on the IPL points table. After the RCB game, they will travel to Delhi to face the Capitals before returning home to host Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
