It’s taken 32 matches and plenty of fireworks, but IPL 2025 finally has a new Orange Cap holder. Gujarat Titans’ B Sai Sudharsan has leapfrogged Nicholas Pooran to take the top spot in the run-scoring charts, thanks to his composed 52 off 36 balls in GT’s dominant win over Kolkata Knight Riders on Monday night at Eden Gardens.
With this innings, Sudharsan became the first player in the tournament to cross the 400-run mark, capping off a string of impressive performances that includes scores of 74, 63, 49, 5, 82, 56 and 36. His consistency has now earned him the coveted Orange Cap—knocking Pooran down to No. 2 for the first time this season.
Pooran, who had worn the Orange Cap since Match 7, has hit a lean patch, scoring just 8 and 11 in his last two outings. However, with 368 runs already to his name, the Lucknow Super Giants batter will have the opportunity to reclaim the top spot in their upcoming clash against Delhi Capitals on Tuesday.
There’s also a new name in the top three—Rajasthan Royals’ Jos Buttler. A brisk 41* off 23 balls against KKR lifted his season tally to 345 runs, pushing him up the table. GT skipper Shubman Gill also surged ahead in the standings, courtesy of his 90 off 55 balls in the same match, moving to seventh with 305 runs.
The elite 300-run club is now well-populated, featuring stars like Mumbai Indians’ Suryakumar Yadav, RCB’s Virat Kohli, and RR’s Yashasvi Jaiswal, alongside the top four.

B Sai Sudharsan (GT) – 417 runs

Jos Buttler (RR) – 345 runs

Meanwhile, the race for the Purple Cap has seen less turbulence. Gujarat Titans' Prasidh Krishna further cemented his position at the top with a tidy 2 for 25 against KKR, taking his season tally to 16 wickets—four more than the next-best bowlers.
GT’s bowling strength was on full display as R Sai Kishore and Mohammed Siraj also chipped in with a wicket each, taking their respective tallies to 12. That puts them in a six-way tie for second place alongside Kuldeep Yadav (DC), Noor Ahmad (CSK), Josh Hazlewood (RCB), and Shardul Thakur (LSG).
