Pakistan have named a significantly revamped squad for their upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, with regulars Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf missing out due to injury. The series is set to take place in Mirpur, Dhaka, from July 20 to 24.
Salman Agha will lead the side in the absence of several senior players, as Pakistan continues to experiment with combinations ahead of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
Allrounder Shadab Khan is undergoing rehabilitation following shoulder surgery, while fast bowler Haris Rauf has been ruled out with a hamstring injury sustained during Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025. Rauf will also miss the playoff stage with San Francisco Unicorns.
Other notable omissions from the previous T20I squad, which defeated Bangladesh 3-0 at home in May-June, include Irfan Khan, Hasan Ali, Mohammad Wasim, and Naseem Shah.
Pakistan’s selectors have turned to fresh faces for the Bangladesh tour, introducing five relatively untested players. Among them are uncapped pacers Ahmed Daniyal and left-armer Salman Mirza, as well as young wristspinner Sufiyan Muqeem, who has just ten T20Is under his belt. Hasan Nawaz, a top-order batter with eight T20Is to his name, and medium pacer Abbas Afridi, who has appeared in 21 matches, round out the group of newcomers.
Several of the new selections impressed during the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL). Abbas Afridi finished as the fourth-highest wicket-taker with 17 scalps in 11 games for Karachi Kings. Salman Mirza claimed nine wickets in just four matches for Lahore Qalandars. Hasan Nawaz was the third-highest run-scorer in the tournament, amassing 399 runs in ten innings at a strike rate of 162.19 for Quetta Gladiators.
This marks Pakistan’s second T20I series under new white-ball coach Mike Hesson, as the team focuses on building depth and identifying new talent ahead of next year’s World Cup.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that the squad for the upcoming white-ball series against the West Indies—comprising T20Is in Lauderhill and ODIs in Tarouba—will be announced at a later date.
