A dramatic Sunday of IPL 2025 action saw significant movement at the top of both the Orange and Purple Cap leaderboards, with Royal Challengers Bengaluru's Virat Kohli and Josh Hazlewood emerging as the new leaders in their respective categories.

Orange Cap: Kohli Overtakes Suryakumar in Race for Top Scorer

The Orange Cap changed hands twice in the span of a few hours. Mumbai Indians’ Suryakumar Yadav briefly held the top spot after scoring a blistering 54 off 28 balls against Lucknow Super Giants in the afternoon fixture, taking his season tally to 427 runs—surpassing Gujarat Titans' B Sai Sudharsan, who was on 417.

However, the lead didn't last long. In the evening match between Delhi Capitals and RCB, Virat Kohli’s measured 51 off 47 balls saw him leapfrog both Suryakumar and Sudharsan, finishing the day as the new Orange Cap holder with 443 runs from ten matches.

The top five currently includes:

  1. Virat Kohli (RCB) – 443 runs

  2. Suryakumar Yadav (MI) – 427 runs

  3. B Sai Sudharsan (GT) – 417 runs

  4. Nicholas Pooran (LSG) – 404 runs

  5. Mitchell Marsh (LSG) – 378 runs

With Gujarat Titans set to face Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur on Monday, Sai Sudharsan will have the chance to reclaim the top spot.

Purple Cap: Hazlewood Takes Pole Position

Josh Hazlewood continued his strong run for RCB, picking up 2 for 36 against Delhi Capitals to take his tally to 18 wickets from ten matches, making him the new Purple Cap holder.

Gujarat Titans’ Prasidh Krishna remains close behind with 16 wickets from just eight games, showcasing excellent consistency.
